Flame Nebula (NGC2024) with a hint of horsey

Took this a few nights back, about 40 mins worth of data with 70 second subs ISO 1600 - unguided.

I think I can just make out the horsehead on the left side of the image.

The horsey is in there Roy, just needs coaxing out with a carrot or photoshop. Great image capture, just needs the magic tweak and it'll amaze you.

I did a false flat to get the bright hump in the middle flattened out then curves and levels and the horsey came out. Problem is that its JPGed for posting so the raw data isn't there. You have much more data in your subs so it should work really well for you.

When I saw your posting on this I realised I'd used a variation of this technique on other stuff I've done. Had a play with the technique and I think this re-post is an improvement over the first.

Like KK says Roy, there's a lot more in there yet

You potentially have a really nice image there, the focus is good and tight and the detail on the flame is great.

Keep bashing away at it, it'll be worth the effort.

Had another play, with the aim of getting more definition on the horsehead - I think its there now
