hazegood
quick question for the photographers, in the area I work, theres a traditional type photographic shop, sells camera new and refurbed, binos, and some scopes, in the window if I read it correctly he has a refurbed Nikon D3 SLR priced at £170,Now on my upgrade list is a DSLR, I am thinking canon 1100d new at £250 or so, but from what googling I have done, that Nikon sells for 5x the price its up for, so should I bite his hand off, and buy it, (is it any good for astro - even if its not buy it, and flip and use the profit to buy a better canon than the 1100d)hope for some adviceLeigh

Dsidote
There must be something wrong with it for that price. If it is a functioning camera you should jump on it. As for astro use, its a great low noise full frame sensor, but a professional body is going to be quite heavy. You will have to get an additional USB device to capture long exposures because that vintage of Nikon bodies doesn't support bulb over USB. Cornelius Varley
I think the price is wrong or you misread it. A Nikon D3 is a professional camera and a quick look ongoogle suggests that the price would be nearer to £1700 than £170 for a used camera. hazegood
Went back to the shop today and it had gone, enquired about it, it is a D3 guy said he still had it, but had taken it off display as he had mistakenly typed £169.00 instead of £1690.00 when making the price tag, and had a few people trying to insist he had to sell them it at that price, which he legally does not,Ah well every so often you hear of people getting bargains like this, never happens to me though Leigh
