Viewing session with the Cotswold Astronomical Society

Recommended Posts

Had a really good night last night observing with a group of ten or so members of the Cotswold Astronomical Society at Bredon Cricket Club near Tewksbury. I had decided to take my LX90 10" since I havn't used for ages. The usual gremlins set in and I lost power to the scope not long after set up, so had to revert to showing people the Moon and Saturn etc manually. I helped a few newcomers with their new scope and gave them a few tips. It was a nice evening altogether which culminated in one of the best meteors I have seen in ages. It came straight down from the zenith running to the left of Plough. It was an incredibly bright fireball meteor which broke up into 3-4 pieces the ionisation trail was visible for several seconds.

Heres a pic of the some of the group that had remained to the end of the session.
