Anyone moved house for astronomy?

They say moving house is one of the most stressfull events in your life. And it is!

To be honest, the whole process of putting a house up for sale and looking for a house to buy and all the legal wrangling/structural surveys in between and making sure all the dates coincide with each other is NOT something i wish to ever go through again in my life.

My blood pressure during the last 9 months was higher then normal, my blood sugar levels were higher then normal,i have a few more grey hairs then i did before, but i have lost about 2 stone (always a good thing).

I read earlier on this thread (or another) that selling/buying costs about 10K in legal fees etc. Between estate agent fees, solicitor fees, structural surveyor fees etc.................i paid 16k.

Removals company was another 1K (original quote was 750 euro), but only because on the day there was a screw up of times that i could pick up the keys, and i kind of left my old house in a rush and locked my dog inside and had to go to the estate agent to get a key to drive back and get my dog and then i missed my turning on the motorway (blah blah).

All fun and games. Happy to be here. Now the fun starts of getting new kitchen, bathroom, gardens etc.

Had a talk with the seller's agents and have a completion and moving date, fortunately in the school summer holidays when I'll have more time.

Still got to contact a removals company, but an auction house wasn't interested in my low-rent furniture. Will have a look at the London Reuse company, but haven't been impressed by them. May also contact a specialist in house-clearance. Anyone want a bed-settee built for the transatlantic liner market? No, thought not

One thing I did notice, it looks like the streetlights where I'm going are still low-pressure sodium, so a chance for LP filters to work.

I have the most astronomy unfriendly house possible.......I recently purchased "setting up a small observatory" by David Arditti which is giving me plenty of inspiration and motivation.

Good book. I believe David's observatory is in London, not the best place either!
