Star reflections ?

Imaging Panstarrs K1 the other night and got subs like this, presumably it's the light from Alkaid just out of shot.

Using 10"SCT, Atik 314L, EFW2, Badder filters, Atik OAG.

Is this unavoidable, is it caused by the OAG, can it be removed with flats ???

Not sure flats would help with this because its a localised light source, minimising internal reflections and a shield around the oblective end could help but a gradient removal tool would get rid of it.

For a second I thought that was a comet. Is it an internal reflection you think?

Flats won't help here but Alan is right, an extended 'dew' shield might well resolve the issue - black camping-mat material is good for fabricating dew shields like this.

I think it's an internal  reflection but from Alkaid, if I moved the comet to the far corner of the picture it disappeared, the nearer I got to the star the worse it got.

Already got a long dew shield fitted.
