A single shot of last nights moon using the 10" newt & canon 1000D I'd stack the rest of the images but guess who forgot to bring the SD card reader lol.

Sun taken in white light using the same as above, bit of an improvement over my other attempts & I managed to stack these.

What is the collective noun for astronomers? It has to be 'a cluster' doesn't it? In which case:

M45 - The Seven Brothers, though in this widefield view I could only make out six:

M44 - The Teahive:

There was even a bit of clear sky - John points the dob at the moon:

Here's a close up view - the only image of the night sky that I managed...:

And now - a couple of Caption Contest images:

Last night was a bit rushed, Ive never seen so many people all looking North for Polaris! It was pretty much a race against time to get PA'ed and calibrated before we got wiped out by the advancing bank of cloud.

The planned target got covered up by cloud just as PHD calibrated, so it was a very quick switch to the HH for some Ha - but that was quickly wiped out too. The forecast clear slot at 11pm never arrived, and we were instead rewarded with rain! Oh well, maybe next time ey! So, the sum total of my trip was one, three minute sub on the HH (oh, and quite a hangover!).

Im not sure whether the air pollution covering the UK did me any good though (now thankfully cleared), picked up a bit of a cough. A night in a warm, dry bed might sort me out :)

No calibration (not worth it for one sub!)

As you can see, a picture of Steve taking a good look at Jamies beer, and a picture of Daz's left shoulder, photobombed by Psychobilly!

Although our stay was short and sweet, we really enjoyed it, great to catch up with old faces, sorry to have missed you if I didn't get round, SteveR I set off several times in your general direction and got waylaid...

As for the cloudy cider on sale at the cafe............mmmmmmmmmmmm

I didn't take any AP gear and only had quick mess about with the DSLR as I was too busy chatting most of the time :)

The site was in good condition considering the winter we had.

Ditto RikM. I didn't really see any clear sky of any worth but I had a great time. All I got was a few pics of the site at night.

You did much better than me Mark, PA was way out, goto was non existent. Every time I went to align on a star a bunch of nasty looking clouds would sit over it a while. Managed to knock out a few subs regardless but nothing of note, just this bearded fella:

M51, M43, M42 and the moon

Not even enough time to get focus right :/

Nice sketch Shane.

It was great to meet you again and have a little longer to chat this time. Shame we weren't able to share some observing time but there was not much of that about !

Glad you got a confirmed split of Sirius too. It's not much to look at but it's nice to have a confident sighting of it all the same.

cheers John

I agree totally, would have been great if there was more observing time but the fleeting gaps meant everyone was (understandably) rushing to see stuff through there own gear and then it was all over all too quickly. I called by your van on the way out to say cheerio but think you were having brekkie. see you next year with clear skies all the way!
