Anybody here go to the Texas Star Party (June 1-8)?

I've wanted to for quite a while, but it usually conflicts with the Grand Canyon Star Party I attend every year. I've heard it's great, dark sky but a bit dusty. (Dust doesn't generally bother me, but it does some.)

I've been dreaming about going to one of the big American star parties for some time. I've been informed by my boss that its going to be at least 3-5 years before I can though

I'd think it would be a bit difficult for those in Europe to attend such an event with big, heavy equipment. Wouldn't have the faintest idea how to go about it, which is why I haven't attended anything offshore. Probably couldn't afford it anyway.

It conflicts with the Cherry Springs Star Party in Pa, but when I'm retired next year I would consider going a very long way for a star party.

If you have a travel scope, you could bring it and leave the 20" Dob in the UK. There is plenty of chance to look through big scopes at these American star parties, and the owners are very generous about letting people look, too.
