Seven Sisters and a few more siblings

Cracking night here last night even though most of the country is covered in snow. Here's a picture of the Seven Sisters/Pleiades/M45 showing up a few more of the siblings.

Taken With : Canon 400D fitted to a Antares 80mm Fluorite APO with 0.8x focal reducer.

Guided by : Bresser R102 and Meade DSI-C CCD using Shoestring Guider and PHD software.

Mount: Orion Sirius EQG

Image Data: 10x10mins Light Frames, 5*10min Dark Frames, 1 bias frame.

Processed with: Stacked and ASin curves level & saturation applied in DSS, final tweak in PSCS with Noels Actions.

That is a great image, lots of fine detail and good colour. Bet it was cold, or have got a warm room?

It was quite cold Naz but i have my set up remote controlled from inside the house. Plus when I was outside I used some chemical pocket warmers inside my inner jacket pockets they stayed warm for well over 2 hours and kept my core temperature up so I didn't feel cold at my extremities. I had my 12" dob out for a bit of visual observing whilst the imaging set up was ticking away.

Thanks for the nice comments it was great to set off the kit remotely and for it to capture 10 frames without something going wrong like the clouds roll in or forgeting to put the camera in bulb mode etc.

That's a great shot. Capturing the nebula in M45 must be very difficult. It's on of the most impressive sights in the sky.

A very attractive image this Kevin. The Pleiades is a popular target, and it is not difficult to understand why.
