M42 core

Lo all.

I decided to have a quick go at the trapezium in m42 while waiting for ngc3718 to rize out of the worst of my LP.

LRGB

L = 20 @ 60 sec's + 10 @ 20 sec's and 10 @ 2 sec's, through my 10" f4.8 newt

RGB 6 @ 60 sec's + 6 @ 20 secs for each channel.

Not at all the colour I was exspeting from the core but it's what I got

Lovely separation of the Trapezium stars. Can't see a problem with the colour of the Trapezium - many images of this area have this hue but not always that lovely separation!

The colour is fine Mike and lovely detail too. A lot of pics u see of this are too purple or too red for my liking. Unprocessed with my canon 400d its a crimson colour just like yours.

....Beautiful, looks like you got the exposure times bang on. As for colours.. what is the right colour? how can we know... our eye's certainly cant help with that one. It looks fantastic to me mate.

It's a treat just to see the clean separation of the Trapezium bodies, splendid, that image can't have been easy to achieve.

It really is pleasing to the eye.
