Has anyone good tips to make a good quality animated GIF (above was my very 1st attempt to make an animated GIF) 

I made an AVI with PIPP with the original stacked 22 images ( TIFF original format) I have, the quality is way way better than above. I used an online convertor to make this GIF copied above from the AVI.

I use GIMP as photo editor and I tried to make the GIF with GIMP, but too much work/trouble to align each pictures in layers. 

Any software or tools in GIMP known to help out, what process flow to keep up as good quality as possible?

I use ImageMagick for creating animated gifs, but my images do tend to be aligned to start with.  I think there's a Windows version.

I found a little avi to gif freeware that works well. So here it is

An excellent animation - well done.  Just shows what you can do with the movie function of a DSLR.
