It's worth a little extra for the piece of mind. For service you won't do better than FLO ;)

I agree I've had great service from them for my 2 scopes. And on the one occasion when one small part arrived broken, they were so helpful and very quick to get a new part out to me.

I got my 200p Dob from Phil Burtons Ebay shop.

The package appeared to come direct from Skywatcher (unopened and factory fresh)

I had no problems.

You pay your money, and receive the goods.

Simple.

Set aside an hour to build the base, and read the instructions properly.

Someone on here managed to put the finder scope bracket in back to front.

It's easily done if you rush it and don't look at the pictures in the manual.

Wow what a bit of kit

Worries over now!  Having double checked  and enquiring with the UK Importers of his reputation, there was no bad news.  Phil Burton was my first choice of dealership due to  the lowest price in the UK!  The only thing that was a problem is getting 25Kgs of boxed equipment to NE Scotland. That's not cheap, even though I'm still UK mainland.  But Pulsar Optical  only charged me £10 delivery, that alone is also remarkable, and their prices  include FREE P&P to UK mainland, so I still should have got it delivered for free, however I live in Moray, Aberdeenshire, and for political reasons, my postcode is IV which is an Inverness postcode including Highlands and Islands of Scotland. There's the cash bell for the couriers. If Scotland goes Independent, those postal/courier charges are going to rocket? RANT OVER!

This scope is fantastic at £249 delivered by Phill Burton.

It was simple to set up and first impressions was wow what a beast for the money.

I'm hoping to get it out tonight so will say how I get on with it.

Not sure Phill has the offer on now for this scope but you can check with him.

Thanks Buzz, will look forward to hearing what you think - offer is still on....finger poised above the Buy it Now trigger!

We'll my skies have been rubbish last few days so have not had chance to view yet.

The scope was easy to setup and is not to bad to move around considering its size.

The finder scope gets criticised I have noticed on forums but it don't seem to hard to use to me.

Just got to wait now for the clouds to part and see if it's a good view of the heavens with it.

Will update when I can but for that money you can't go to wrong, depending on what mount you need that is.

Yeah, I guess you are not too far from us in Gloucester and it has been a bit rubbish - been wanting to get out with just my eyes and some star gazing apps I have downloaded, but not happened yet!

Fingers crossed for clear skies soon!

We'll managed to get a bit of clear sky tonight.

Had a look at Jupiter and it looked great and could easily make out several bands, even tho the sky was not great. Two moons on each side looked fantastic.

Had a look at the moon and wow it felt like I was orbiting it but then cloud covered it.

Then turned to find the m42 in Orion has I not seen it before. I think I found it and looked like four or five tiny close stars in a bit of misty haze, also three stars above it (wrong way round in my scope), so not sure if this was the m42 but hope someone can tell me.

So first view with the new dob 200p and was very very satisfied, although I need to get the dob base on hard ground and not my wooden balcony to get it to stop shaking I think.

Same here. I find its very acceptable from my garden site, but thought a Telrad may be better at a real dark site. Alas I cant use a Telrad without prescription glasses? What I have noticed is its easier to view through the 9x50 with both eyes open! It makes for easier alignment as the targets overlap when spot on.

I would buy it from from a reputable specialised retailer if I were you. The price difference is minimal but atleast you have a point of reference for after sales service just in case something was not right.
