Quality ED80 Refractor

Recommended Posts

I'm currently saving up for an Astrophotography setup.

I've already got a mount in mind but not the refractor to go onto it.

I'll be using it for DSO'S as I have a Mak for Moon and planetary work.

I want a good quality ED80, quite fast but ine which won't break the bank. Looking at spending around £600-£700 tops.

Been looking at Skywatcher, TS Optics, Starwave, William Optics etc.

Any good ones which fit the bill?

You cannot go wrong With the Equinox 80. It's the tried and proven apo by many.

Tho the William Optics GT-81 is also a very nice one, but slightly surpassing Your max 700 Budget.

Assuming that you are using a DSLR, then you'll almost certainly want a flattener with your scope, otherwise your corners will be iffy at best. There is no dedicated flattener for the Equinox, so many use the TRF2008. The downside to that for me is that you are having to use push fit adapters, whereas I like everything to screw in, much less likely to sag.
