Back in the DSO saddle after 18 months!

Tonight is my first night imaging a DSO since about a year and a half!

I potter around with a webcam more these days, and I wasn't sure I could find the enthusiasm to get out there tonight, having got used to the relative simplicity of a webcam. But for about the first time ever, I actually quite enjoyed setting up the DSO gear!

I think it's because I used to take it all quite seriously and didn't want to waste any time, so I would be in a hurry to set up, and get frustrated by any small problems. Tonight, it was just ready when it was ready!

Amazingly, it all seems to be working! I have about my first 40 minutes of the Flaming Star nebula in H-a. Not sure it's that well framed, but I'll just go with how it comes out for this first session.
