Best Free Software For Linux?

Hey!

I use linux (ubuntu and centos). I was wondering what the best free software for image processing you know of? I already know of gimp, but thats about it.

Nebulosity2 runs under Wine - for DS images processing. For planetary you can try some other apps. WinJUPOS works, AstraImage not that much etc. In general astrophotography has some Linux limitations, and that's why I have one Windows install at home.

My windows install got corrupted and I do a lot of weather modelling so I decieded not to reinstall it. I'm just looking for software that will take a video and stack the images easily, as well as let me combine multiple photos for stacking. I saw that Nebulosity 3 is paid, is version 2 also? My budget is sadly zero at this point. I do understand that I found myself a hobby that can become very financially demanding so if there's no easy free software that's fine.

ImageJ is a free image processing tool that works nicely under linux. I gather wxAstrocapture should work if video for linux is installed. Tried once but did not get it to work, I have to say.

Although I've not tried them yet, Lynkeos Image Processor and GCX Astro-Image Processsor both have good reviews

Registax runs under wine on my ubuntu 13.10 install as does PIPP and AS2.

DSS also runs under Wine, but only so-so... Have you considered using a virtual machine software?
