Can I focus a 9x50 finderscope?

Recommended Posts

Hi... I've bought a Sky Watcher 9x50 right_angled finderscope to replace the straight-through 9x50 that came with my 200 Dob and was breaking my back. And very good it is too, except the image is blurred. It was in the original finder as well.

Does anyone know if these finders can be focused to give a sharper image? I have tried twisting the front of both finders (there's a milled ring on both which suggests it's there to be twisted) but actually it feels 'graunchy' like I'm undoing the optics rather than focusing them.

Or maybe it is meant to be fixed and doesn't matter if the view is blurred.

Thanks, Julian

The front part is made up of two pieces, one is the milled locking ring. Hold the main part of the front piece in one hand and the locking ring in the other and twist them opposite ways. Adjust the front part till you get good focus then tighten the locking ring.

Apologies if the previous answers were thought adequate, I like clarity :-)
