"Special event" in May

Can anyone recommend ISO and exposure settings for capturing meteors! It looks like there might be a clear period for Bristol so I'm going to leave the camera clicking to see what I get.

I'm yet to find a definitive answer to that one Dave, I guess it depends on how dark your skies are too and what lens you plan on using.

If it's the 18-55mm at 18mm then a good starting point is 30 seconds and ISO 400 or 800, check your image to see if it's too bright or not and if it is drop the exposure length a bit.

Personally I think the shorter the better but then that will leave you with less stars to see.

Here is a good link to a meteor detector http://www.meteorscan.com/meteor-live.html and there is also http://spaceweatherradio.com/ where you can listing to the pings.

Both seem to be showing activity at the moment, more so than the normal background anyway.

the "ping" is quite a spooky sound!

There are some clouds right now but it seems it will be clear after midnight. I haven't seen a meteorite shower since the 2000s so I am really excited. I hope we have a meteor storm instead of a meteor shower
