Help at zenith?

My gear is a celestron omni xlt 120 on and cg-4 EQ mount. I just took my new scope of for a trial run. I managed to catch Jupiter through a hole in the clouds. The only problem I encountered was it was near its zenith and I had to lay on the ground practically to look through the eyepiece. I was wondering if it would be ok to loosen the scope rings and pull the scope up in the rings to pull the eye piece up some. I know that would throw my balance off but since I'm pointing almost straight up it wouldn't matter would it?

I just took a look at your scope as I am not familiar with it.  It's a refractor.  You can get yourself a diagonal to put in the eyepiece so you can look in a more comfortable position.  I know what you mean though I have the same problem with my finderscopes.

As Carole has suggested, go for a diagonal. It will not add that much weight either.

The other thing to remember is that East & West will be reversed.
