Is it really a year ? Not much to show for it.

All done with a Moravian G2 8300, Astrodon 5nm filters and camera lenses ( 180mm and 250mm in the main )

More colourful than my usual selections but that's because I've had some bad influences this year !

Dave.

My first half decent shots using an unmodded 450D and 300mm zoom lens on the Polarie which has left me trying not to delve into deep sky further.

Must resist harder. :D

A couple of familiar objects, M45 and M42

Have to admit these two images are the only ones I'm remotely happy with  this year. But it's my first year of imaging and I'm trying to learn all the time. Both taken with a Canon 1100D through a SW 200P on EQ5Pro.

Technically this one was started in 2013 but ended just a few hours into 2014 and just so happens to be my best yet i think.

15x5 seconds, 15x30 seconds, 15x120 seconds, 15x300 seconds. Each series went thru DSS and then blended together in PS4 and tweeked in LR4.

And this one which has been a dream of mine for well over 3 years to get a decent image of it which i think i finally did here.

A 1st year in the hobby for me to celebrate: below results:

1) with a skymax 102 Alt/Az, goto, with a  unmodded DSLR at prime focus. ISO3200, mutliple short subs of 15-25 sec at 3200 ISO, process in Neb3  (yes... you read right: it is possible to image some deepsky with a slow small aperture scope like a MAK 102 on an alt Az mount, believe it -of course limited to few bright object and quite some files to process -and to reject-, but possible): Orion and M5 (about 20 minutes and 5 minutes in total respectively)

2) with a C8/AVX, DSLR at f6.3.

Mosaic of M81 (4 hrs) + 82 (2 hrs)

Wrong scope and mount for DSO astrophotography but here are my best two efforts from 2013 - my first half a year with a scope.

Orion nebula, unguided, just motorized tracking ISO 800, about 30 mins worth of data stacked

post-31280-0-75279700-1390075980_thumb.j

Andromeda Galaxy, first guided test with PHD. ISO 1600, about an hour and a quarter of data
