This is my second attempt at M42 using curves.

Your colour balance is pretty much right, to my eye. Very good. You are just hampered by achromatic optics which do not focus the blue light correctly and that's not your fault.

Just out of curiosity; in a case like this, where once suffer from poor optics. Would using RGB/narrowband filters and a mono camera solve this issues completly, as you then get proper forcus for each channel?

As for the topic, quite nice pic there. Colors look good, and you can see quite a bit of details.
