Too good to be true?

I have been agonizing over the purchase of some better bins to replace my tasco 7x50's. I have stumbled upon the following site where the prices seem just too good. 250 quid for a pair of fujinons sounds tempting....

How much vat/import duty might such a purchase attract?

Thanks in advance.

As a fair estimate expect 30% on top of the purchase price.

Shipping, insurance, duty (usually small) but 20% of everything as VAT.

Also check that they ship to the UK.

One I purchased from, binoculars.com no longer ships the ones I bought to the UK.

Stay away from them, well away.   Lots of reports of people being stung, sadly sometimes loosing lots of money.

This should ring the alarm bells LOUD and clear -

£3296 for an Astro Physics 1100GTO ! ! ! ! ! !   The real price from AP is about £5800+duties

Firstly, as you have discovered, if something looks too good to be true, it usually is!

Secondly, for future reference:

Take a shufti at http://www.sloanefox.freeserve.co.uk/importukduty.htm -- it has most of the important details and sample calculations.
