First Jupiter of the season

Recommended Posts

Hi friends,

First Jupiter of the season, and a first try on planets with my PGR Chameleon camera, great camera, the tiny pixels are a must for hi res planetary imaging and you don't need to put a lot of focla length to get a decent scale on the chip. imeg made with average seeing (6/10) and using my 12" GSO newtonian riding a EQ6.

Hope you enjoy!

Cheers,

Wow Luis, that's lovely!  I've heard very good things about those cameras, so I wonder what you could do with some really good seeing!

Reckon that's got to be the most detail image of Jupiter I've seen this year so far - brilliant.

The level of surface detail you've captured there is just incredible!!

How many frames per second does the PGR Chameleon camera run at?

Hi Steve,

Many thanks :)

The Chameleon goes to 18 fps in full resolution, but with a 649x480 ROI it goes to 24 fps, at leaSt on my oldie PC :) Not bad, it's enought for most of the seeing ;) But those lunar shots at full res...oh my god, this pgr IS MINDBLOWING!

Cheers,

Thanks for the further info, one last question is it the mono version you are using?

I've just seen your lunar shots on Flickr.... stunning, a great advert for the PGR camera's!!
