scope storage paranoia

now my OBSY is in bits im having to store my 14" Flexi tube in the kitchen utility room. i have a few concerns and becoming paranoid

1. excessive heating from the dryer
2. dust from the dryer
3. grease particles from cooking in the kitchen

ive told the wife not to use the dryer while the scopes in there and have placed a bin bag over the bottom of the scope.i cant store it in the garage as thats just way to dusty. these bigger scopes have very open mirror at the back and im very vain about my optics.im looking for some reassurance

If your wife covers your scope with wet washing that will keep the dust out!  On a more serious note it will almost certainly get ruined........just kidding.

Think I'd seal up both ends of the tube (and the gap round the center section) and store it in the garage. You can make it dust proof easier than damp and humidity proof.

Get some sort of dust proof coat for it, i'm sure there will be one out there to do the job.....

dan, just go to aldi like i did and get a barbaque cover its 100% waterproof and it has a cord around the bottom 5 quid

were up the wall with all the work starting on the new house and no scope storage till my obs is moved. what a rubbish time to move in the winter lol

Wilkinsons also has Bar-B-Que and patio furniture covers in a variety of shapes & sizes.

Leave it where it is but just seal it in a bin liner... make sure it's airtight....bingo! Nothing will get in.

My wife would just laugh at me and start cooking a nice greasy fry up while shaking out as much dust from the laundry as possible.
