According to the BBC it failed to emerge from the other side of the sun.

there's hope yet though... the BBC said building 7 had already collapsed when it was still there in the background so maybe ISON is still there  :evil:

It looks to me as though it may be on a different trajectory than they were predicting, but if it lost a lot of mass in the close pass, that might be expected. Apparently it was somewhat beaten up when it got up close and personal.

Comet ISON did not survive its close passage around the Sun. Very little emerged from perihelion. The comet's head dwindled away to nothing, and most of its dust and debris tail apparently evaporated. The sparse remaining debris stream is destined to disperse far and wide.

I think everyone (even the scientists on twitter) are a little puzzled. Something has definitely emerged and has brightened since the initial death declaration. 
Hopefully it's good news! Have to wait and see.

Did Comet ISON (C/2012 S1) survive its close passage around the Sun? Maybe, or maybe not. The comet's head dwindled away to nothing, and most of its dust and debris tail apparently evaporated. But several hours after perihelion what had been a headless ghost seemed to brighten as if renewed.
