10x50 or 15x70???

Bins are very personal things - you can see from the debate and breadth of opinion in this thread alone. My two-penneth: get to an astro shop, or local astronomy club, and try some out. Buy the best you can afford.

If you already have a scope I'd suggest you go wider-field with your bins - 10x50's or 8x42's (my personal favourites) - really useful for learning the sky and planning where to point the scope. If you get stuck on the hobby, a pair of 10x50's will be of use forever.

If you lean towards the 15x70's - the Celestron Skymasters get good write ups here and are considered excellent value for money.
