Bril Mel, I caught a meteor with Panstarrs last May but nothing like your fireball - perhaps its good you didn't actually see it or you may just have been tempted to curtail things to see what you'd got....

I learnt that lesson before, if you think you've captured a fireball keep shooting for at least ten minutes to get the trail, it makes no difference to check the camera as you've either got it or you haven't.

When I captured this one http://stargazerslounge.com/topic/192568-perseid-with-ionization-trail-animation/ some of my fellow imagers were all whooping and staring at the back of their camera's while I just carried on shooting.
