imaging

Recommended Posts

It's really not the ideal place to start, to be honest.

For lunar and planetary imaging you might get away without it, but for long exposure imaging such as is required for DSOs the mount must be able to track the stars, so you need a motorised mount.  The EQ2 isn't that great even when motorised however.

Depending on which 130 model you have, it also may be difficult to get a camera to reach focus without a lot of messing about.

If you already have a DSLR then it's possible you might be able to do some imaging just by motorising the mount and putting the camera on it without the telescope, so all is not lost, but if you really want to understand what's involved then you could do a lot worse than getting a copy of Steve Richards' "Making Every Photon Count" and having a read through that.
