Sticky Hyperion Zoom!

Hey all,

Well I have heard of this happening and now it seems my Hyperion Zoom had been afflicted with this condition.

What is happening is it's extremely tight when turning down from 24mm through to 8mm, it will go but you have to force it and that I don't like doing. It's not really sticky just feels like there is loads of resistance against turning.

Going the other way from 8 to 24 it's as smooth as the day I got it.

I would think if it was dust or a grease problem it would affect it both ways, no?

Any ideas what the cause is and better yet how to fix it?

Secondly, will continually trying to force it down make it explode and unrepairable?

Not that I want to keep forcing it anyway.

There was a similar thread to this earlier in the year where one SGL member stripped his down and regreased to solve the problem.

Check if it's still under warranty first though.

Cheers for that, my brief search didn't turn up any results and I knew I had seen something on it.

Hopefully mine is the same issue and is easily fixed.

I doubt I'm still under warranty, it was purchased from FLO but my email is playing up and can't find the exact dates. It was a couple of years ago I think.
