I spotted these yesterday as well, apart from the cost, I think i'd choose the Vixen out of the two of them.......but either would do...or both.

I've seen the Nikon on Gumtree a couple of times but priced at around £1200 which looks like a scam to me.

I think I'd probably plump for the Vixen also, its a real thing of beauty. I'm sure the Nikon is an amazing instrument, but my next purchase will have to be something with angled eyepieces, next year hopefully!

Yes, the straight through would mean a parallelogram mount and a lot of jiggling with an adjustable seat. I couldn't live with tripod mounted straight throughs.

I am only a beginner in astronomy, out of what I have seen so far in a few scopes so far has not really impressed me, my binos really do, but the thought of full apo binos after looking through a tak 102 refractor and the HD crisp image makes me yearn for a lotto win so I could buy these, I think its pretty much all I would ever need apart from a good mount and comfy chair to utilise there full potential, the ability to swap eyepieces and increase mags is a massive bonus too!
