As no one seems to be posting, thought to add this image from the other night using gains astrotrac and 200mm lens on the canon. It's for all you Yorkshire folk. The White Rose Cluster AKA Caroline's Rose. It's the small fuzzy patch in the middle, processing needs working at, but you get the idea of what should be there in a fairly decent scope.Only issue is that area is full of stars! Not that that's a problem ;)

Lovely job Soupy - that Astrotrac looks like it's a great bit of kit :)

I've only managed to see this as a very feint fuzzy in the binos - it's going to be one of my first targets next time I get the scope out.

It is and what's more I have just persuaded Dawn I need one for Christmas, so I'm currently scouring eBay etc. to see if I can pick one up! I'll keep you all posted though so you can dodge the cloudy skies once bought! If not got before The Geminids I'll wait till after! ;)

Haha, yes, I was like "Thank goodness it's only a small one!" - Vic's Astronomy Central is looking pretty cool.

Soupy - unfortunately, I do not NEED an Astrotrac (and Terry knows it), and me and Terry don't "do" Christmas presents cos we are tight he he.

Hoping that if I get the polar alignment sorted on the NEQ6 I'll have some good success with the DSLR on the piggy-back mount on the 8SE. I don't see why it wouldn't work if I get the alignment right before I start imaging.

However, I might need to come and have a play with your Astrotrac when you get it - will you share your toys please??? lol :)

There is one on ABS for £300 - don't know if this is a good price as I have never looked to see how much they are to buy :)

Think this one has the autoguider port, but the cable is snapped, so prob a decent one. Just checked rothervalley they are £525 with the polar scope and battery pack

They are £510 at Greenwich with polar scope
