Mars/moon close encounter - less than 2 Deg.

Anyone got clear skies for this when they get closest? It'll be about 04:00 for me and it's been thick fog all day and evening. I'm not even sure if it's cloudy, the fogs so thick. :?

Just about see the Moon through the thick fog .

Might clear later.

4th night running with thick mist n fog, and the forecast doesn't look inspiring for the next 4 too!

they were very close at around midnight when i went to bed.. too much fast moving cloud for any pics though

Hi late on in the night you could just make out the moon nr Eastbourne no mars

Well that was a bust!

I set my alarm for 03:00 and, when it went off, a quick look out the window showed a fairly bright moon through some thin cloud. I thought that the scope and Toucam would be able to cut through the thinner cloud as it passed over the moon and reveal mars too.

I was right, well I think I was right. Now and then, for a few fleeting seconds I could see the moon and Mars through the murk in the EP. Unfortunately, those odd few seconds here and there were not long enough to get focus and acquire an image, even a poor one.

Two damn hours I stood there, freezing to death. :shock:

Someone please remind me why we do this stupid hobby? :?
