I thought I'd say hello - we have just exchanged contracts for our first house near Guildford and due to move in in October

So I'm hoping that I will be able to get a pier and obsy setup.

I'm a regular to SGL star parties (I think I can say that 6,7,8 so far!) and managed to attend a Astronomia event up leith hill a while back.

Hello and welcome, I live in Cranliegh just outside of Guildford so you wont be too far from me.

Surrey area is pretty quiet at the moment as people have other things going on but hopefully will pick up once you have moved.

There is quite a few places to meet near Guildford. We have ad hoc meetings at Ranmore Common and there are two other groups that meet nearby - Astronomy 4 Everyone meet near Albury Heath and Guildford Astronomical Society meet at Newlands Corner I believe.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome - thank you lee, they don't seem too far from me. I'll be based out of Burpham - probably not the best location in terms of light pollution but they certainly seem close by. With the garage I could pre-pack the car the night before and then simply go straight for a friday/saturday meet.

I got my setup routine down to 15 minutes in the back garden of my current place (including setting the mount up) but the scope takes about 30-45 minutes to cool properly for photography.
