Milky Way Summer and Winter

[Sagittarius]

The Summer Milky Way image was taken on 3rd September 2013. Note faint M31 top centre. Canon 5D Mk II, Samyang 14mm, f2.8, ISO 6400.

The Winter image, taken on 6th February 2013, shows a rather different Milky Way. Below and from left to right M42/Orion, Jupiter, M45, and far right, M31. Canon 24-105mm (@24mm), f4, ISO 25600 and a combination of two images stitched together to create a panorama.

Both images taken from the same location in Herefordshire, UK.

They are amazing, and for such a high ISO, the noise is very well controlled

The exposure times were 30sec in both cases, but looking at my notes I see that the Summer image was at ISO 3200 and not 6400 as previously stated.

Theres always a great amount of postprocessing to bring out the details. Try to enhance the contrast.

But on topic, that's some very good pics. I wish i could get something even remotely close to that 2nd pic there!
