my first with a skywatcher lps - Ngc 6960

this is the result of 1x8 minute.1x9minute.2x10 minute exposures stacked in dss and processed in psp with an eos 400d and a skywatcher 2 inch lps on a skywatcher 200pds and mounted on a celestron cg5 gt.

any tips on how to get rid of the grain and smooth it without losing the detail.

Nice Broom there toxic. You could take a look at Noise ware community edition to see if that will clean up the background . Although someone will be along in a mo to say "more data required" :-)
