Bizarre-looking new eyepieces from Skywatcher

I've noticed that some folks do slime their eyepieces down to reduce weight / bulk. The Meade 5000's UWA's can shed quite a lot of weight and look really different when it's gone

These eyepieces have been in the market for years and sold under many different labels (Celestron, Arturus, etc.)

They work fine in f/8 and longer, and the 17mm and longer work OK in somewhat shorter f.ratios.

Lateral astigmatism is the most prominent vice and a few focal lengths have EOFB (edge of field brightening), but they are pretty good

considering the price.  They're close to the Explore Scientific offerings but go a lot shorter in focal length.

A little eccentric in appearance, but nowhere near as bad as some.
