Star map constellations

Recommended Posts

You won't normally see a rectangular star map of the whole sky because any rectangular map will severely distort the poles. That's not a huge problem for maps of Earth where the poles are just places like Siberia and Antarctica, but for a star map you need a clear depiction of the poles. Hence the two circles approach being popular, sometimes with a rectangular map for the equatorial regions.
