will a Synguider continue to operate if the handest is removed when it's guiding?

I was wondering if my Synguider will continue to guide after removing the controller pad, as it's just another cable and handset in my way otherwise.

I have far too many controllers and cables cluttering my kit.

I can't say yes or no, but if you have to leave the controller out to collect dew, stick it in a freezer bag, the type with the zipper........

I would guess you can't, as the HC is taking care of the tracking and guiding speed, so my guess, without having tried it, is that if you disconnect the HC during a session with the mount on, the mount will either; 1) stop completly (most likely), or 2) go bananas.

Isn't it also stated in the manual that one shuold not unplug the HC with the power on?

iirc, once you are set up and guiding, it dose say that you can disconnect the handpad. Worth double checking though, as I sold mine some time ago.

Just found an online copy of the manual.

"To avoid vibrations on the Synguider, disconnect the hand pad during autoguiding."

So they actually advise it! Thanks all.

Ah, lol, i completly missunderstood. I thought you ment the synscan controller - and i couldn't really understand why it's cable would get in your way anyway... xD
