First Iridium Flare 11-08-13

Recommended Posts

I captured this Iridium flare during the Perseids watch with the local club. We were chatting and watching for meteors, (like you do) when we I saw a satellite moving East across the sky below Cassiopeia and through Andromeda. Suddenly it became very bright and shone for several seconds before dimming again. The photo is cropped, but shows its path across 3 x 30sec frames.

I wasn't sure I had captured it until I downloaded the images at midnight. Pleased I got this as it is a first for me. Time; 22.46pm
