20 min total with a mix of subs from 300secs to 30 secs was my first try at widefield imaging. flats and darks added. taken from my heavy light polluted garden ROR OBSY in liverpool.

Nice one. That's about the same as I get from good ol' LP'd Manchester with the 450d and 18-55 kit lens. Have you thought about getting over to a dark sky area of North Wales with just the camera and a tripod? At 18mm FL 30 sec exposures should be OK untracked and from a dark sky site you should pick up stars a fair few mags fainter.

Agree with the comments above, nice pic. Can you elaborate on using your laptop screen for flats? Is it just a case of photographing a white screen?

I use my iPad. It is just a case of imaging a white screen. It seems to work for me.
