Canon Remote Control

Recommended Posts

Firstly i do apologise, i know there was a thread on this not long ago because i remember scanning it over, but cannot find it or search for it for the life of me.

I am looking at getting a remote control for my 450D, so i can take longer exposures and not have to keep pressing the button in sets of 10.

I have found this one below, and it seems you can get amount of exposures and length, then just leave it cooking. Does anyone know of any others that may be better value, or have reviews of this one or others.

http://www.digitalmediastore.co.uk/camera_accessories/remote_controls/canon/Canon_compatible_RS60E3_MultiFunction_Timer_remote_control__JJC-TMCCAN-D

Unfortunately i can not afford a laptop at this moment, otherwise i would go down this route, probably in the future but certainly not this year (spending Christmas and New Years in USA so im now more skint than normal)

Many thanks,

Matt

I use the JYC remote timer and they are very good. You need not empty your pocket on a Canon branded remote. They are all the same. Just get the one with the digital display. They are also called Intervalometers.

But I have now realized that since I have been autoguiding, I might as well use the EOS utility or even Nebulosity to trigger the camera. This also means I have one less wire to trip over in the dark. :)

Hi,

You can get them from ebay, mine has a timer and is programmable, cost about £30.00, just do a search for canon remote shutter release. They are a bit power hungry though.

Alternatively you could download APT or BYEOS and tether you camera direct to the PC via long active USB leads .

This way you can sit in the warm well away from the rig .

Both support the 450D and offer so much more than an intervalometer.

APT ..... http://www.ideiki.co...ro/Default.aspx

BYEOS ..... http://www.backyarde...om/default.aspx

always been very tempted by these they do sound like they do everything you need them to do.

Okay many thanks. It does say compatible with the 450D, so have placed an order. It will be such a relief to do exposures longer than 30seconds now too.

Took this of M27 last week, but needs long exposures to really bring it out. Unfortunately, its only ever clear on work nights!!
