What a great project Dan.

Your doing a fine job :)

thanks steve :) if i keep it i might adapt the mount to take a dovetail just so that the tube can be turned to a suitable position. either way im having some fun :D must find time to finish the 16inch mirror as well!!!!

It is so much fun bringing and older scope back to life..

I hope it all goes smoothly for you.

I am working on a 14 inch scope. Just undercoated part of the base today, added flocking and a finder base...lots of work to go..

finished the OTA with one hiccup, when putting the primary back in it was a lot tighter than it came out??? so a flake has came of the bevel on the mirror its about 1cm so nothing major but still upsetting so i have put a piece of black tape over it and now when looking down the tube looks like a mirror clip :D

Looks really good. As long as that mirrors good a little chip will make no difference to the view but I know how annoying things like this are. A screw broke off on my dob base and it was a real pain to get out..much more minor but still annoying..

well just had first light for 15min :D i think the EP (standard SW ones) have let it down so i may have to get some medium range glass. any way split the lyra double and swung over to alberio i have to say the orange was blasting through and the blue was a tad subdued, focus wasnt bad but showed sings of astigmatism(probably the EP) i bagged m57 :D love that little smokey ring. caught a last glimpse of saturn which was boiling being very low.the stars were really bright though and the sky was still light so i have hopes for this scope in the winter while my cameras clicking away in the OBS. been a while since ive been out a viewed 4 months nearly

right I see this is the 9" scope you mentioned. what an absolute bargain and you've done a great job Dan! :)

going to hammerite the mount black i have some spare from the pier just to make it look a bit tidy. :) its quite good on doubles i think may be a tad slower than f5 maybe 5.5-6 its nice to have something to look through again past few months even though its summer i felt lost without anything in the obs. never again!!!!!!!!!!
