Sun spot 07-09-13

Seeing was not good for all but this run today.

Shot through a full aperture Baader Solar filter, 250px,DMk21 (mono), red filter and skywatcher 2x barlow at 1:53pm.

best 500 from 4000 stacked and processed with AS2 and colour added in photoshop.

Filter-wise you'd be better with a green filter rather than the red one in theory , but you've kinda disproved this ....

Not sure about the technical reasons , assume it's to do with blocking the extreme ends of the spectrum , the "Continuum" filter that's generally used is set in the green area ( though I was advised by Pete Lawrence at the recent Astronomy Show that a Wratten #56 Green does much the same thing.)

Hoping to test a Continuum filter next week to actually see what difference it makes before spending another £99 .....

That is a very nice image, lots of fine detail to be seen. Considering how poor the seeing has been recently - well done!

I have been playing with the user defined colour table in AS2, the result is a 50/50 mix with that result and the photoshop colour from the previous image posted.
