EQ5 synscan

Ok had a few weeks of bad weather now and haven't got the scope out at all, apart from the frustration I have been thinking about maximising the time I do get. I thought I was going to learn my way around the star and planets by looking as often as possible but now have resigned myself to getting a syscan system for my EQ5 mount from Optics to hopefully do that, I know that setting up with polar alignment will be a learning curve but do other people agree this is the best way to go?

Like you my time is limited and spending what sometimes seems to be hours trying to locate an object to image very frustrating.I bought AstroEQ for my EQ5,a GOTO/Tracking controller for EQMOD.

It's a lot cheaper than the Synscan upgrade, haven't had chance to use it myself just yet(damn clouds!)If you're interested then have a chat with Tom
