There is always a alternative but I know the make as you can see in my signature

but on saying that if you go on to Amazon there are two reviews that are worth reading

I my self do like rubber eyepiece I find them more comfortable

not sure what you will be using them fore as 8x42 are usually used for bird watching ,that siad I usderstand that weight plays a part it this

you would get a good wide field with the WP range and light weight made in Japan they are of very good quality

alternatively Nikon action EX 7x50 with centre focus around the same price

I certainly will Doug. The problem for me is that there is such choice and conflicting reviews.

I intend to use my bins mostly for astro and sometimes on the boat. Waterproof and rugged for sure. A 7/8 X 42 should futureproof them in case my max. pupil size contracts.
