Visual versus imaging limits

I have a 10" SCT which under ideal conditions should resolve 14th mag stars visually does the same limit apply to CCD imaging or will dimmer stars be resolved ?

Only asking because I'm having trouble matching images to actual star charts.

It depends on your exposure length but imaging can pull out a lot dimmer stars than just looking through the scope.

And the camera plays a factor too of course.

There's also online serves that can plot out whats in your image and tell you what objects and stars are there by name/number.
