Hi all,

just joined the forum. I have been into visual for the last few years but I am now starting in ap having initially gone the hyperstar route, I have now also gotten a gem mount with a small apo.

im looking forward to learning from the forum and who know I might even be able to add something. Most likely along the lines of what not to do!

Welcome to SGL Gordon :)

Have you checked out the local CSOG, an informal group who arrange meets to observe..... and image at various dark sites in the Central Belt, though I guess you probably have quite good skies in Lanark. Google "CSOG"

Hi Gordon, I'm just down the road from you in Lesmahagow.

As well as the Central Scotland Observers Group that Lorne told you about http://www.scottishastronomers.com/forum/

there is also the Clydesdale Astronomical Society http://www.clydesdaleastro.org.uk/

who are based in Forth just a few miles from you, and they meet up on the 2nd Monday of each month.

I haven't managed to attend any of their meetings yet but I did manage to get to a stargazing event they held at the beginning of the year on the roof of New Lanark Mill and they were all very friendly and helpful.

Welcome to the lounge

Hi Gordon and welcome to SGL, If you are just starting down the AP route, and you have not already added this to your library, then a copy of Steve Richards book " Making Every Photon Count " see FLO top of the page, would not go amiss if you are seeking knowledge of the subject, enjoy :)

John.
