Its more than a decent scope Matt - you'll see loads - enough to keep you busy and entertained for years, a lifetime even.

With the added bonus that you should be able, with a few tweaks, to take your first steps into AP though as its early days I would just concentrate on familiarising yourself with your new gear and just enjoy looking up.

Hopefully yeah; I've got a canon 350d which I'm intending to use!! Or if I ask my dad nice ill borrow his 40d !! But I'm not thinking of that yet, I need to learn the basics first

I don't know much about Dobs, but the Cardiff Astronomical Society observers club has a meeting this Friday Nov. 28th at 8:00 pm. Check out their website for details and contact information.

Looks like Cardiff is going to be the best option. Swansea is further away and I cannot see anything for Newport - half think there may be but I cannot locate a listing for a club.
