f9.8 refractor and small DSO

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone. I Recently bought an evostar 102 and wondered if it would be suitable for imaging some of the smaller DSO's. I have only used my 200p for imaging on m42 upto no then life got in the way and the scopes have been gathering dust! hope to get them out of retirement for good now though :p. I've looked on some of the websites that show the fov on particular objects and I know not to expect the colour and detail etc but is i practical to use this scope for dso's

Thanks

At f9.8 it will not be the best for DSO I'm afraid. You can most definately get images with it but you will have to take much longer exposures. The brighter the object the better your results will be.
