Trudie, I have a DSI camera and I find the Autostar Suite stacking is fine but you must select two stars so that you can avoid field rotation between subs. The advantage of Autostar is that it can stack images on the fly and you can see the results on screen immediately without finding out on post processing that the subs are no good.

M31 is a hard target to capture and process properly so I would suggest going for things like M57, M27, M13 for practice.
