TS Individual 152/900mm Refractor

Recommended Posts

Well very pleasing results!

I'm glad the scope performed really well, I knew you would be happy with refractor, inded I was when I first recieved my Ts 115mm Triplet APO refractor, as soon as I got it out of the case for the first time I knew that the TS brand was unbelieveable quality, just by looking at the optics and the robust tube, ok heavy but that's not big deal when I have a NEQ-6 mount to easily handle it!!

Don't Emadmoussa your refracor as got the best quality O'hara glass on the optics, hence the reason there's hardly any CA at all, Because it's well made and precisely machined, grinded to minute tolerances, it improves the light spectrum more closer to the single light cone. This O'hara glass is not your average optical glass, this is not in most Archromtic lens Refractors, this is very specialist glass indeed, and are often found in many ED's and APO's as well!!

You got yourself a real bargain mate that's for sure!!! hello2.gifhello2.gifhello2.gif

Couldn't agree more. Comparing the glass with the ones I have on my ST80 and another old refractor, the TS Individual stands out really easily. Hence the price - but still worth it.

Please call me Emad. :)

Sounds a very promising scope

Ohara is a manufacturer of glass as is Schott. The Skywatcher ED scopes use a combination of Ohara FPL-53 and a Schott glass (don't know which one) to control ED.

From the reports I've read the 152mm F/5.9's control CA well for their focal ratio but, unsurprisingly, can't compete with an ED doublet in that respect. Thats to their credit and not a criticism at all - 6" ED doublet refractors would cost around £3K, if readily available.

Venus and Sirius are two really stern tests of CA control in a refractor.

  • 3 years later...

I'm awaiting delivery of this very scope - been waiting close to 3 months now...  I do not see much followup here.  What ever happened, and do you still own/use this scope?  Find any negatives after using it for a while?
