Finally, I caught up with that running man!

Been waiting a while to capture M42, last night was perfect opportunity, got up at 3am, bitterly cold to brace the outside.

Orion was finally visable over the top of our house ( ALT 40 deg + ).

Shot using 66mm APO @ F/6, 28 mins of +- 3 min subs, Neodym filter, unmodded 350D.

I'm very happy with the result personally, my 1st shot at M42 ever.

The running man is just visible too, but i darkened the background so lost some detail there.

That's a great shot Kevin. The thing about M42 is that it sits in a much wider area of Ha nebulosity. The temptation is to treat it as sky glow and process it out. Would be nice to see it with the black point not moved over so far, running man would show up more clearly.

Well done for the M42 and Running Man Kevin, as for getting up at 3 a.m. in the cold last night, you should go far with that dedication! :(

Can't wait to have a go myself later when it's up at a more civilised time...

Cheers

Mark
